At Marmalade Lane we put grapeseed oil into all of our products. Fun fact, grapeseed oil is actually obtained from the seeds of grapes after wine making! But unfortunately, not all grapeseed oil is created equally. Most suppliers sell solvent extracted versions because its cheaper and more cost effective to produce. The solvent used being hexane, is then removed by yet another chemical process, significantly reducing the color, taste and quality. Though a bit more costly, we’re able to source grapeseed oil that is cold and expeller pressed, which produces the highest quality oils. Every ingredient we put into our body and on our skin should help us feel better, because we’re over here trying to live a healthy lifestyle right?! Which is why we make sourcing high quality ingredients a priority for all of our products.
Grapeseed oil contains a high amount of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that is a component of vitamin F. So, what exactly is vitamin F good for, because we never really hear much about it? Well, it’s this vitamin that our bodies need for normal growth and behavior of healthy cell membranes. As well as promoting a well-balanced hormone level and properly working immune system. Now it makes sense why so many cook with grape seed oil! Often times it is compared to olive oil, but has a slightly more neutral taste. Topically, it’s quickly absorbed through the skin layers, making it a great addition into our relief balm!
