How To Find Your Ideal CBD Dosage

By far the most frequent question we get asked is “how much CBD should I take?” Because CBD is not a one size fits all product, the answer to this question is going to vary from one person to the next. If you’re new to CBD and don’t know where to start or you’ve been taking it for a while now and aren’t quite sure if your dosage is optimized, we’ve got you covered. So, let’s dive in!

The most basic advice we can give is to start small and gradually increase to a dose that is comfortable and effective. Unlike THC and alcohol, your body isn’t going to create a tolerance to CBD. So once you’ve found the proper dosage, you should be able to stay consistent with your routine, which is going to save you money in the long run (yay!).

Height, weight, age, and sensitivity to how substances affect your body are all things that need to be considered when determining dosage. All of these factors are truly going to make a difference on how much CBD you require in order to achieve the desired results. In general, larger bodies will need more CBD to reach the same effects. Seniors on the other hand can expect to use less than those under 50. Are you sensitive to caffeine and alcohol? If the answer is yes, the same will probably be true for a full spectrum CBD product. We also don’t recommend quickly adjusting your dosage. For example, don’t use one dropper on Monday and increase to two droppers on Tuesday because you didn’t see immediate results (more CBD doesn’t always mean more relief). An important reminder to all those who incorporate CBD into their lifestyle would be that consistency is key!! Lastly, consider your “why”. Do you have debilitating pain for which you use CBD, or are you using it for overall wellness? This will largely determine your dosage needs as well.

I’d like to wrap this up with my personal experience taking Marmalade Lane’s full spectrum CBD. Having taken CBD in the past I opted to start with our 2,000 mg oil for overall wellness purposes. And for a bit of reference, I do experience severe migraines and am generally sensitive to substances. I started by taking two drops sublingually and slowly worked up to a full dropper over the course of about a month. I quickly realized that a full dropper was too much for me during the day (I got too sleepy) so now I stick with just the two drops. However at night, I either take two gummies or a full dropper of oil if I can’t get to sleep. On the flip side, I know people who take two full droppers in their coffee every morning as part of their daily routine. Any topical CBD can be used as needed, for me that’s usually after a grueling workout or standing all day.

Your experience will probably be different from mine, although some people have adopted a similar routine. In any case, please use the information above as useful guide for your CBD journey. We recommend having an open line of communication with your doctor or medical professional when taking CBD as well. As always we welcome any questions you may have.
