CBD and Delta-8

Recently we’ve been getting a lot of questions about Delta-8. Although Marmalade Lane doesn’t sell any products that contain Delta-8, let’s talk about it!

There have been thousands of scientific studies on CBD spanning decades suggesting beneficial therapeutic effects. For example, researchers have found that CBD’s calming anti-anxiety effects work via serotonin receptor activation. Actually, CBD’s activation of serotonin receptors allows your body to utilize serotonin molecules more efficiently. Serotonin being the happiness molecule, responsible for anxiety and stress reduction, yay!

Delta-8-THC, often shortened to delta-8, is an intoxicating analog of delta-9-THC. Meaning, it has a similar molecular structure and affinity with your cannabinoid receptors (psychoactive). To be very clear, yes delta-8 is a potent cannabinoid and it alters what we call a “normal state,” but it’s not nearly as strong as its cousin delta-9. CBD’s molecular structure is similar to CBG and won’t bind to your cannabinoid receptors (non-psychoactive). CBD is also federally legal and protected under the 2018 Farm Bill. While Delta-8 on the other hand, resides in a federal grey area and is currently banned in several states, Wisconsin not included. Furthermore, CBD has no known side effects or addictive properties, whereas Delta-8 research has yet to be determined on its longer-term effects for regular use.

We hope this helps answer some of the questions/concerns you may have had about delta-8. If you have any other questions, as always, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
