Every week we get asked questions ranging from, what is CBD to why anyone should be using it, so let’s talk about it. In this post we’re going to cover some of the most important questions anyone and everyone should be asking before trying CBD.
1. How much CBD should I be taking and how often?
It’s important to take weight into consideration when ingesting CBD. A smaller individual will want to take considerably less CBD than someone larger in size. We always recommend starting small and working up to a dose that’s effective and comfortable. For example, someone who’s never tried CBD before we advise starting with Marmalade Lane 1,000 mg oil. A couple drops under the tongue for 30-60 seconds, increasing every day or even every other day, working up to a full dropper of oil. It’s important to not immediately swallow CBD as the body will digest it very differently. Never take CBD on an empty stomach, and always let it sit under your tongue to slowly introduce it into the bloodstream. Although, a person who has regularly taken CBD, is larger than average, takes CBD for chronic pain or as a sleep aid, we recommend Marmalade Lane 2,000 mg oil. Again, starting with a few drops and working up to one/two full droppers over time, to find the dose that works best for you. Also, keep in mind that consistency is key when taking CBD oil. In regards to our CBD topicals, these can be applied as needed up to several times a day. A little of our highly concentrated 1,500 mg Relief Balm goes a long way!
2. What kind of CBD oil should I purchase?
Although “full spectrum” will always be the most effective, there are reasons for taking other forms of CBD oil such as “isolate” or “broad spectrum.” Drug testing at work is generally considered a thing of the past, but there is still a small percentage of industries which require drug screenings. If that happens to be your situation, then full spectrum is not for you even though it falls within the <0.3% THC legal limit. On the other hand, we have heard of numerous instances of employers who make exceptions for those who take CBD. So, it could be worth talking to your employer about before starting a CBD routine.
3. Should I talk to my doctor before taking CBD?
We recommend it. Feel free to take your bottle of CBD into your next doctor’s appointment! As with all supplements, be sure to inform your doctor when trying something new. CBD is generally considered safe but your doctor may want to review your past or current medication history.
By asking these questions before starting a CBD regimen, you can be confident that you’re finding the product that’s right for you and start enjoying the benefits that CBD has to offer today!
